LASAR 2020 CONFERENCE – Science, Religion and Big Questions: What are the Big Questions for school students and young adults – and how we can help them to explore them?

The conference will consist of a symposium on the 22 June and a day of conference presentations on the 23 June.

- Physics and the nature of reality,
- Biology, health and wellbeing.
- Ways for individuals and our global society to tackle and overcome the challenges of COVID 19.
The Epistemic Insight Initiative is a national research and curriculum innovation strategy led by the Faculty of Education at Canterbury Christ Church University. Within the ‘EI’ Initiative, teachers, student teachers and tutors are collaborating on ground-breaking research to design and test strategies to engage school students in more dialogue about Big Questions.

To engage wisely with big questions like whether robots can think for themselves and why life exists – children need to build their understanding of the strengths and limitations of disciplines like science, maths and the arts. At the same time, teachers need to find ways to bridge curriculum boundaries and to encourage enquiries that involve science and technology and can sometimes be religiously sensitive.

We are planning additional forums for presentations and authors can also submit their papers for consideration for the conference book.
